Native daughter of Saint Malo, daughter of wind, granite and water, she gives shape to the erosion of her own breath, the pulsing flow in her arteries, the rythmic nourishing swell within her. She works directly with her medium, without first sketching, as if the pencil might deprive her of the immediate, necessary contact with the inert body on which she labors to create life.

When the birthing begins, women no longer ask themselves if the child will be gifted. In the same way, after years of gestation, Martine latimier no longer worries about defining her work; she uses all her strength and talent to give birth to her metal children. In the most natural way. Our emotion probably springs from this amazingly innocent shamelessness.

In the coldness of metal, she offers to our touch the sinuous curves of her sensuality. In the silence of bronze, she whispers love-words, and sings to the children she has never had. In the secret workshop of her solitary wanderings, her hands search out the inner world of the womb.
